Priorities

Students & Learning - Cindy cares most about student learning and developing the whole child. Whether it is investing in technology, reviewing MCAS scores, or protecting art, music and literacy initiatives, our goal must be to recognize and share best instructional practices and keep successful learning the priority of our public education policy and programs.

Schools & Sustainability- Winchester has grown from a small school district to a medium-large one.  With this enrollment growth, comes increasing diversity and complexity in our student population.  As many as 35 different languages are spoken in the homes of public school students, and more students are on IEPs and staying on them longer.  Just as we have embraced class size policies, we must commit to supporting our enrollment growth with curriculum directors, psychologists, and ELL personnel who can ensure consistency of program rigor across elementary schools and full equity and access to quality programs.

Community Collaboration - Cindy appreciates that schools are only a part of what allows Winchester to thrive.  Her experiences on town-wide committees have afforded her an insight into more than just schools.  The Coalition (WCSC), town athletic clubs, Jenks Center, Wright Locke Farm, library, and a host of local nonprofit organizations are all partners and players in our effort to educate the whole child.  As we look to updating all of our efforts (including the high school), we must take a collaborative approach to advocating for students, and the benefits award-winning schools bring to all residents in town.
