Experiences

Cindy’s dedication to public education began long before she became a parent.  She spent the majority of her professional life dedicated to education policy and programming, and has a degree in secondary education and an MBA in social entrepreneurship.

Breadth of experience:  Cindy places a high value on civic engagement, and has volunteered at every level of our schools (PreK to HS) and several town-wide committees. In these roles, she has learned a tremendous amount and continues to be inspired by the dedication of the longtime residents and new families we call neighbors. Current and past activities include:

Depth of Experience: With 20 years of professional experience along with an MBA and an undergraduate degree in education, Cindy has spent most of her adult life focused on education excellence, communications, and strategic planning for nonprofit leadership.

Efficacy: Cindy’s demonstrated ability to complete tasks and publicly articulate policy can be observed in the varied Town-wide efforts she has participated in, including:

• Helping to craft the Town’s multi-year, successful energy efficiency building policy
• Working as a working group member to build the Focus on the Future community conversations
• Establishing a website and directory at the V-O school to build and sustain community engagement
• Spearheading the successful Room for All override campaign and vote that resulted in the rebuilding of the V-O school an a wider plan to relieve elementary school overcrowding
• Prequalifying contractors/subcontractors for the Vinson-Owen building project.
• Serving as one of six members of the 2011 Town Manager Search Advisory Committee.
